DESCRIPTION: An attractive gall caused by a parthenogenetic gall wasp which lays single eggs within leaf buds. The growth itself is somewhat pyriforme and made up of green over-lapping scales that are quite hirsute and edged in brown. At the apex of the gall there is a tufted appearance. The gall wasp involved has both sexual and agamic generations which cause galls to appear in different locations on the chosen hosts. DISTRIBUTION: Occasional. HABITAT: Located in the terminal buds or leaf axillary of Pendunculate and Sessile Oak.
